How You Can help

1. At the City Level

While the Charles River is state property, the Cambridge City Council is very active on the Charles River. They have recently taken very major action, and need to act almost immediately now. They may be contacted as follows:

Snail mail should be sent to: Cambridge City Council, c/o City Clerk, 795 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA 02139

Formal emails may be sent to the Cambridge City Council c/o the City Clerk at clerk@cambridgema.gov This is the most powerful way to communicate, but it can be slow.

Informal ways to talk can make immediate contact, and thus truly get things done:
General phone number for the City Council: 617-349-4280
General email: citycouncil@cambridgema.gov

Personal emails may be sent to the Mayor and the individual City Councillors. CLICK HERE to go to the Cambridge City Council website for their names and contact information.

You can send our petition directly by email to the Cambridge City Clerk, Mayor and all the City Councillors in support of the goals of the Friends of the Charles River White Geese. PLEASE CLICK HERE to open your email application to send the petition.

2. At the State Level

The reality, however, is that the Charles River is state property. Much is done at the City of Cambridge, and in the current situation, the Cambridge City Council is very much crucial, but, as a general rule, the most important actions are state level. These are the people the City Council is dealing with.

Contacts at the state level can impact legislation, WHICH DESIGNATES MONEY SPENT, and can place direct pressure on the bureaucrats at the Department of Conservation and Recreation who are the key decision makers.
